From Portfolio to Platform: A New Website for Steve Williams Landscapes
How a strategic Framer website helped Chelsea-winning garden designer Steve Williams reposition his practice around philosophy, not just portfolio.
Client: Steve Williams Landscapes

Intro
Most garden designer websites are built to do one job: show finished projects. For Steve Williams Landscapes, that wasn't enough. With a Chelsea-winning garden, TV appearances, press features, and speaking engagements to his name, Steve needed a website that could hold his full body of work and the thinking behind it, not just a gallery of pretty pictures.
The Challenge
Steve Williams was already building a serious reputation in garden design. A Chelsea Flower Show win, television appearances, press coverage, and speaking invitations all pointed to someone operating well beyond the standard "local garden designer" website. But his site hadn't kept pace with any of it. For the past few years, his energy had gone into Wild City Studio and community-led projects, good and important work, but work that pulled him away from his own design practice. He was ready to redirect that focus back to the gardens he actually wanted to create: regenerative, rebellious, reclaimed. Urban gardens that work with nature instead of against it. The problem was that a standard project-gallery website, the kind most garden designers use, had no way to hold any of that.
The Solution
Working with Dan Hoye Design started with getting clear on who Steve was actually trying to reach, and what a website would need to say to reach them. Rather than a conventional portfolio site, we built a website designed to function as a platform: one place for the press and media coverage, the design philosophy, and the voice behind the work, alongside the finished gardens themselves. A dedicated media section now houses videos, press features and a link to purchase his book, giving Steve room to go deeper into his ethos and make the case that wild, regenerative gardens aren't a passing trend but the direction the industry needs to move in.
The Result
Steve now has a website that matches the level he's operating at. Instead of a static gallery of past projects, the site gives him a platform to publish ongoing thinking, showcase press and media coverage, and speak directly to the clients who share his philosophy on regenerative, nature-led design. As Steve put it:
"Working with Dan Hoye Design helped me get clear on who I'm actually trying to reach and build something that says it properly."
